There are several recordings of this song, but this album is such a gem. “Together at the Bluebird Cafe” is the holy triumvirate of Townes, Guy Clark, and Steve Earle coming together for an Interfaith Dental Clinic benefit organized by Guy’s wonderful wife Susanna. It’s as good as it sounds. Very mellow, full of funny yarns. Poor Townes was on his last legs. But I think this might be the best song on the album. Joe Neumann, are you reading this?
